This posting is for current Radford students interested in applying for a scholarship to teach in Lancaster County upon graduation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Eligibility for a Virginia licensure upon graduation.
  2. Eligible for valid certification to meet ESSA requirements with specific endorsement in the area in which assigned by August of 2024.
  3. Applicants must have an acceptable rating for student teaching.

REPORTS TO: Principal

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Prepares written communications relating to general and specialized work of the department.
  2. Plans instruction to achieve learning objectives that reflect current division and state curriculum standards.
  3. Uses materials and resources that are compatible with student’s needs and abilities and which support the approved curriculum.
  4. Links present content with past and future learning experiences, other subject areas and real world experiences/applications.
  5. Uses researched based instructional strategies that promote student learning.
  6. Recognizes individual learning differences and differentiates instruction to meet student needs.
  7. Provides a variety of ongoing and culminating assessments to measure student performance.
  8. Provides on-going and timely feedback to encourage student progress.
  9. Uses student performance data in instructional planning and decision making.
  10. Adheres to appropriate scoring and grading procedures and policies.
  11. Maximizes the use of instructional time to increase student learning.
  12. Manages/maintains behavior that promotes learning.
  13. Organizes the classroom to ensure an environment that is safe and conducive to learning.
  14. Communicates effectively and appropriately with students.
  15. Works collaboratively with staff, families and community agencies to support student success.
  16. Initiates and maintains timely communication with parents/guardians and administrators concerning student progress or problems.
  17. Demonstrates professional, moral and ethical behavior and exhibits personal integrity in all interactions.
  18. Participates in an ongoing process of professional development.
  19. Provides service to the profession, the school, the school division and the community.
  20. Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

If approved for program, the contracts will be follow board policies and regulations.

 

EVALUATION:

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of certificated personnel.
